At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, a live demonstration of the new voice assistant “Hey Disney!” developed in partnership with Amazon and Disney was presented.
According to an Amazon blog post, the “first-of-its-kind” voice assistant would give users access to “a wide spectrum of Disney fun” both through Echo devices at home and as a free service at some Disney Resort hotels. The Alexa Unique Assistant, a speech artificial intelligence (AI) framework upon which the business could quickly construct its own custom voice assistant that coexists with Alexa, was used by Disney to develop this experience.
In the upcoming months, this new service will be sold in the US.Customers will be able to use their Echo smart speakers at home or in hotel rooms at the Disney Resort to access the service.
Additionally, it will support Disney’s MagicBand+, a smart, interactive wearable that “visitors utilise at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort to participate with performances, enter the park,” among other things.
According to Dan Soto, vice president of technology and digital at Disney, “As a first-of-its-kind voice assistant, Hey Disney! maintains Disney’s long heritage of harnessing technology to create the trendiest, most convenient experiences to make your vacation better.”
