The Indian space sector is on a growth trajectory. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planning to conduct new experiments this year. A recent report says that the Mexican space agency Agencia Espacial Mexicana (AEM) has approached the ISRO to help build and launch a remote sensing satellite for Mexico. Dr Salvador Landeros Ayala, Director General of AEM, and S. Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, have discussed the same. ISRO will take up the Mexican space agency’s proposal with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
The Mexican space agency was established in 2010. The agency is still in its early stage. In 2017, it launched Nanoconect-1, its first satellite, from Mexican territory. Nanoconect-1 is a stratospheric balloon flight carrying a gondola. AEM will launch its lunar space mission in 2023 with the help of a US-based SpaceTech Company Astrobotic Technology. ISRO had earlier shared a mobile application for forest fire monitoring with the Mexican Forest Department.
