Chinese internet giant Baidu offers nighttime driverless taxis in China.
This would be a big leap in autonomous driving in China.
The public can ride Baidu’s robotaxis in Wuhan from 7 am to 11 pm.
There is no need for safety drivers behind the wheel.
Earlier, its unmanned vehicles could operate only between 9 am and 5 pm.
The new scheme would cover one million customers in Wuhan.
Baidu uses third-party cameras, radar, and lidar to drive better in low-visibility conditions.
Baidu started the driverless robo taxi service in August .
in Q3, it completed more than 474,000 rides.
