Driving tests to be Fully-Automated in Delhi

By the end of January, all driving tests at the Lado Sarai circuit would be conducted without the need for any human intervention, according to officials.

In Delhi, 12 of the 13 driving test tracks are already automatic.

Currently only manual testing is done at Lado Sarai.

Automated driving test tracks (ADTT) are used to evaluate applicants for permanent driver’s licence on their driving prowess.

The ADTTs uses a variety of driving test methods, including traffic junctions, forward-8, reverse-S, and the up-gradient, one of the most challenging tests used to separate expert drivers from incompetent ones.

Sensors and cameras use these tracks to evaluate prospective permanent licence applicants for up to 24 distinct driving standards.

The task of installing the programme is also almost finished.

Once the Lado Sarai facility starts doing so, Delhi will likely become the first city in the country where all driving tests are evaluated automatically, without operator interaction, according to the officials.
