The Indian Railways is on a Green Mission. It commissioned 142 MW of solar plants and 103 MW of wind power plants until October 31, 2022. It started using Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) trains and mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains .Railways further adopted head-on-generation trains. They reduce noise, air pollution and diesel consumption. Green certification of Industrial units, stations and other railway establishments are other measures. Railways also did the environmental system certification of some railway stations. It also installed waste-to-energy plants. The goal is to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2030.
