How does she make art out of voice notes?
As the first step, she records herself speaking a word or phrase. Using that soundwave, she produces a computer-generated image that features various aspects of the word. She draws over the individual lines of the soundwave to create a picture that explains the meaning of that word or phrase.
For instance, in 2019, she created her first Voice Note Art by saying the word ‘Dubai’. On each line of the soundwave, she drew the skyscrapers and landmarks of Dubai’s cityscape. Using the QR code attached to the artwork, viewers can listen to the audio file of the spoken word on their phone or tablet.
In the last two years, art has taken a new form with then Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT).
Sethi too has created an NFT titled “WTNFT?”
(What The NFT) that depicts the evolution of NFTs from an internet phenomenon to mainstream art.
The QR code shows an animated version of the artwork. It was sold for $102,000. Sethi believes NFTs are capable of broadening people’s understanding of the digital art market and revolutionising the whole art scenario itself.
