The Kerala Startup Mission’s Climathon stands out for showcasing commercially viable, avant-garde concepts and approaches to promote environmental preservation. The winners of the climathon were ‘Treetag’, a flexible web-based platform that uses technology to manage forestry initiatives, ‘ZEWA Ecosystems’, which developed a technology for treating organic waste and converting it into animal feed and ‘Vatsaa Energy’, which developed an Integrated solar roof made of Bamboo to stop roof leaks and lower heat.
In collaboration with EY Global Delivery Services, Kerala Startup Mission organised the two-day event. A prize of Rs 30 lakh was awarded to 11 Startups. The Climathon was inaugurated by Federal Bank Chairman C Balagopal, and speakers included KSUM CEO Anoop Ambika, EY India Location Leader Richard Antony, Global Operations Leader Mukul Pachisia, and others. The prize was given to the winners at the closing event by Kosi M. Mathew, the EY GDS Leader. The remaining seven runners-up received Rs 2 lakh apiece, and the first three winners each received Rs 5 lakh. The business, which developed a method to transform human hair waste into fertiliser, was also awarded a Rs.1 lakh
The runners-up include ‘Teqard Labs’, which creates smart farming solutions, ‘Qudrat’, which produces disposable tableware from paddy crop leftovers, ‘Speranza Plasti Crafts’, which produces toys, tiles, and bricks from recycled plastic, Fuselage Innovations, which uses photos obtained by a multispectral UAV to construct maps needed in the field, and Teqard Labs. Other winners included X BOSON, VIR Naturals, and Lares.ai. A special Jury mention was given to MYCROWB Your Eco Friend LLP.
At the Climathon conducted in Kalamassery’s Technology Innovation Zone, a discussion on the UN Sustainable Development Goals took place. Over the course of the sessions, 174 original ideas were gathered.
