Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun unveiled the Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept on Twitter. How is the new model different from the regular Xiaomi 12S Ultra? The concept phone is a fusion of smartphone and professional camera imaging technology. It comes with a space for a modular attachment. This feature would let you turn your phone into a proper mirrorless camera with the help of a professional Leica lens.
There would be two 1-inch camera sensors on the phone. One of them would work as a regular flagship camera. The other one, when added with a Leica M-series, would directly capture the light from the external lens and deliver images that are superior in quality when compared to traditional smartphones. The phone is co-engineered with Leica, the German camera maker.
Once the lens is attached, users can adjust the focal length just like on a mirrorless camera. They can also use Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s UI features like a histogram, focus peaking and 10-bit RAW support. The lens can also be used with a Leica camera when not used on the phone. The phone’s second 1-inch sensor works only when you attach the lens. It ensures that the quality of the picture won’t be compromised. The device would surely take the concept of mobile photography to the next level. Currently, the device is a concept phone. It has not reached the market yet.
