In order to connect engineering students with the industry, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and the automaker Nissan Digital on Saturday inaugurated the “Campus Connect” programme.
The event was launched by Taga Masayuki, consul general of Japan, at the Nissan Digital India office in Technopark.Nissan Digital and the KTU exchanged an expression of interest at the gathering.
The initiative includes creating academic curricula to help students develop their technical skills, placing select students in appropriate positions at Nissan Digital, encouraging B.Tech. and M.Tech. students to complete internships and projects there, creating and implementing industry elective courses with universities for industry readiness, investigating the possibility of hiring research students in particular domains, and increasing communication between the two parties.
Nissan Digital and the university were commended by the Consul General of Japan, Taga Masayuki, for putting new concepts in industry-academic collaboration into practice. Nissan’s Divisional General Manager and Director of Nissan Digital India, Ramesh Miraje, claimed that by spotting up-and-coming talent, “Campus Connect” would help improve Nissan’s operations in Thiruvananthapuram and build links between business and academics.

Biju and Vinod Kumar Jacob, members of the University Syndicate, Kenji Minami, general manager of Nissan Motor Ltd., Jaljeet Narayanan, HR manager for Nissan Digital India, Shalij P.R., dean of research at KTU, Arun Surendran, president of Trinity College of Engineering, principals of other engineering schools, placement officers, and representatives from Nissan Digital all attended the event.
