The trial run of Indian Railways’ upcoming Chennai-Mysore Vande Bharat Express began today at Chennai’s MG Ramachandran Central Railway station. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch the Chennai-Mysore Vande Bharat Express train on Friday. This will be the sixth high-speed rail in India and the first one that was built entirely domestically in the country’s southern region.

A rake of 16 coaches, including Executive Class and Chair Car coaches, makes up the Vande Bharat Express train. In comparison to prior Vande Bharat models, this one is more advanced because it is lighter and has a faster top speed.

The other four Vande Bharat trains, which travel between New Delhi and Varanasi, New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Gandhinagar and Mumbai, and New Delhi-Una, will be replaced by this one.

In order to make travel safer and more comfortable, the new Vande Bharat trains have upgraded features like reclining seats, automatic fire sensors, CCTV cameras, on-demand content with wifi, three-hour battery backup, and GPS systems.

By the end of August 2023, The Integral Coach Factory hopes to have built 75 Vande Bharat trains.

In the roof-mounted package unit (RMPU), it also contains a photocatalytic UV air purification system.

In India, passenger travel is being redefined by the modern Vande Bharat Express. The Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) known as KAVACH is installed on Vande Bharat 2.0 trains, which the older trains lacked. Disaster lights with a three-hour battery backup are installed in coaches.

The exterior of the train now features eight flat-side cameras, an increase from four. Additionally, coaches have a passenger-guard communication system with an automated speech recording option.
