In the 2020–21 Performing Grade Index (PGI), which evaluates district-level schooling, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Punjab came out on top with identical scores of 928 out of 1000.
These states are on the L-II level, which also includes Chandigarh, and newcomers Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. Achieving the highest level of L-I hasn’t been accomplished by any state yet.
The Indian school education system will be evaluated using a revolutionary index called PGI 2020-21, which was unveiled by the education ministry on Thursday.
Punjab, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Kerala ranked at the top of the index in 2019–20.
Chandigarh received a score of 927, followed by Gujarat, Rajasthan (each with 903), and Andhra Pradesh (with a score of 902). Ladakh improved significantly in PGI in 2020–21, moving from L–VIII to L–IV, and improved by 299 points in comparison to 2019–20, which is the biggest improvement ever in a single year.
According to the PGI, the Indian educational system is among the largest in the world, with over 14.9 lakh schools, 95 lakh professors, and nearly 26.5 crore college students from various socioeconomic backgrounds. The index, which was created by the division of literacy and school education, provides information and knowledge-driven processes on the state-sensible effectiveness of the educational system.
