Edtech platform Byju’s has appointed celebrity footballer Lionel Messi as the first global brand ambassador of its social impact venture

‘Education For All.’

The platform propagates the concept of equitable education. Messi has entered into an agreement with Byju’s to represent this cause. Currently, ‘Education For All’ empowers about 5.5 million children.

Byju’s co-founder Divya Gokulnath has said that Messi is the best choice to ensure the success of the programme.

“Quality education changes lives. Byju’s has changed the career journey of millions of students globally. I believe it will inspire young minds,” Messi said.

“The greatest player of all time is also the greatest learner of all time. I am sure this partnership will inspire millions to dream bigger and learn better,” added Divya.

Worldwide, football has about 3.5 billion fans. The new association will give Byju’s leverage in foreign countries. Messi who plays for PSG is the captain of Argentina’s National Football Team. More than 450 million people follow Messi on social media. Byju’s is the offical sponsor of the Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022.

The company has not revealed the amount that would be spent for making Messi its brand ambassador. This is not the first time Byju’s appoints celebrities. In 2017, it selected Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan as its brand ambassador.
