Starting on November 2, the Uttar Pradesh Government will hold a three-day event with an emphasis on the food processing sector. The “Agro Based MSME Udyami Mahasammelan” will be held as part of the promotion of the establishment of food processing companies in the MSME Sector in the largest state in India.
The focus will be on start-ups and prospective business owners who wish to establish food processing industries in UP, as well as current business owners who are engaged in agro-based food processing industries/businesses, mostly in the MSME Sector and who want to diversify and expand.
Around 100 exhibitors and 1,500 professionals from the food processing industries, including research organisations like CFTRI Mysore, are expected to attend, according to the UP government.
According to the officials, the event will also serve as a forum for sharing information about various government programmes, particularly those relating to project finance.
According to the UP Government, the food processing sector will play a crucial part in bringing the state’s economy over the $1 trillion US mark. The agricultural sector contributed Rs 4.5 lakh crore to the state’s current US$250 billion economy, and the food processing sector contributed Rs 50,000 crore.
In Uttar Pradesh, there were about 70,000 MSME food processing units that were registered, compared to almost 20 lakh unregistered firms. According to the Horticulture Department, UP ranked first in the nation for 15 of the most important agricultural and horticultural crops, including watermelon, wheat, and mango.
