Kawasaki has given a sneak peek of the first electric motorcycle it will shortly introduce to the world market. The brand-new electric motorcycle was first observed in operation at the Suzuka 8-Hour competition and is still in the prototype stage. At the Intermot motorcycle trade show in Cologne, Germany, the prototype was on display. By 2025, Kawasaki intends to sell more than ten electric and hybrid motorcycles.
According to Kawasaki Motors President Hiroshi Ito, the automaker plans to internationally debut at least three electrified vehicles in 2022. The event’s prototype served as the model for a real machine that would go into production later.
The EV prototype appears to be based on the Kawasaki Z250 naked street motorcycle, which is offered for sale on the international market. It has a simple body but a fuel tank that looks robust and a brash headlamp. The design of electric vehicles typically makes them distinctive.
Internal combustion engines will continue to be a focus for Kawasaki. The producer is also looking into biofuel and e-fuel alternatives, and they are even investigating hydrogen as a potential carbon-neutral option. The company actively participates in alliances that span the automotive industry as well as other future-oriented technologies and are not limited to the two-wheel world.
