IIT Madras develops a new technology called ‘iTad’. This new touchscreen technology let users feel the texture of images. This is useful while purchasing products from the e-commerce sites. Feeling the texture of the product will help in decision making. About 30 per cent of returns in online shopping happens due to the mismatch of user experience. The researchers collaborated with Merkel Haptics for the study. ITad can also be helpful for the visually-challenged persons.
