In order to accommodate an increase in travellers arriving in Doha for the World Cup of soccer and as part of a broader post-pandemic expansion, Qatar Airways is increasing its workforce by 10,000 employees, the airline told Reuters.
The Doha-based carrier is in the midst of a hiring drive that will increase its whole workforce from about 45,000 to more than 55,000, according to a spokeswoman who wished to remain anonymous.
At the end of September, recruitment events were held in the Philippines, India, and other nations, according to the spokeswoman. The number of new employees who will be working when the World Cup begins on November 20 in Qatar, the first Middle Eastern nation to host the tournament, is not yet known.
