The Abu Dhabi Civil Defense unveiled a Thermite Robot at Gitex Global, which is equivalent to ten firefighters. The robot’s 2,500 gallon per minute water-pump spout will be very useful for putting out flames in high-risk areas.

  • The Thermite Robot includes two waterspouts, the bigger of which may be used to spray water over a burning object while the smaller spout can be used to spray water in a more controlled manner.
  • It can run continuously on diesel for 20 hours before requiring a refill.
  • It may be operated using a remote control up to 300 metres away.
  • A specialised arm in front of the robot can move 1.5-ton obstacles with ease.
  • The robot’s back has a retractable wire hook that can haul objects weighing up to 4 tonnes out of a fire zone.
  • Smoke can be released using a large exhaust fan located at the back of the larger water spout.
  • The representative stated that “sometimes, when a car is on fire inside of a tunnel, it covers the entire tunnel with smoke.”
  • This robot will be helpful in putting out the fire and cleaning out the tunnel at the same time.

The robot also has cameras, a temperature sensor, and wheels that enable it to go over uneven ground, including railroad tracks.
