Asimov Robotics
Asimov Robotics Pvt Ltd is a start-up engaged in the design, manufacture and maintenance of robots and related technologies. Asimov Robotics was launched in 2012. Asimov robots operate using a variety of technologies. For example systems like autonomous navigation, that enables robots to work independently.
Asimov also uses machine vision technology to recognize faces, images, and objects, and a manipulation system that moves the robot. Asimov robots collect data from humans through sensors like Wheel Encoders, Joint Encoders, Lidar, Proximity Sensors, Camera and Indoor GPS. Asimov robots can be used in any customer-facing field, such as banking, security, healthcare, and retail.
The Founding Team
Jayakrishnan T is the CEO of Asimov Robotics. Saju G Namboothiri is the co-founder. The company has engineers at senior level to handle the hardware and software of robotics. There are around 10 people as junior engineers. 3 people are working in the marketing department.
Clients
The robot currently handling the front office management of the Kerala Police has been manufactured by Asimov Robotics. Asimov’s robots have also been deployed in various places such as Hindustan Petroleum Limited’s two robots for museum supervision, Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital and HDFC.
Acknowledgments and future plans
Asimov has been recognized as the best start-up by the central government multiple times. Asimov also received the Impact Creator Award from the Maharashtra government. Asimov Robotics also had the opportunity to introduce products and solutions at a special United Nations seminar.
Funding
The company received seed funding of 21 lakhs in 2013, the year after its inception. An angel round is also expected to raise around Rs 10 crore within two months. In the near future, Asimov Robotics plans to further customise its products to increase quality and limit costs. The long-range goal of Asimov Robotics is to bring products to the point where, just like computers, robots will be affordable to the average person in the future.
