Under the PM Gati Shakti national master plan for multi-modal connectivity, the government of Andhra Pradesh proposed nine projects to the Government of India (GoI) for financial support totaling 782 crore. For FY 2022–2023, there will be an allocation of 5,000 crore for all India schemes.
A.P. Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and other relevant departments have provided basic geographic data on them, which has then been sent to Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics (of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) for the creation of a geospatial database.
Various steps of project approval are currently underway. The two largest ones are the external water supply facilities for the Mega Industrial Hubs planned for Orvakal in Kurnool and Kopparthy in Kadapa district, with an investment of 288 crore and 171 crore respectively and capacity of 74 Million Litres per Day (MLD) and 46 MLD, respectively.
The additional projects include acquiring land for the Routhu Suramala (Chittoor) and Naidupet (Tirupati district) industrial clusters’ external connectivity, constructing a road from NH-16 to Nakkapalli (Anakapalli district), widening the Atchutapuram-Anakapalli road to four lanes, building a road-over-bridge to connect to the KIA Motors plant in Anantapur district.
The aforementioned initiatives are being pursued by an empowered group of secretaries and a network planning group established under the A.P. Logistics Policy 2022–27 in an effort to strengthen the advantages the State now has.
Overall, the State Government is creating the following elements of infrastructure in accordance with the overall national master plan.
Transportation infrastructure, including gas distribution networks, multi-modal logistics parks, inland container depots, free trade warehousing zones, railroads, highways, ports (airports, seaports, fishing harbours), and ports (air and sea).
