The India-UK free trade agreement (FTA) won’t be a “free for all deal” Said UK Secretary of State for International Trade Kemi Badenoch. The intention is to reduce barriers to trade bilaterally. It would also look at balancing the needs of each side on product and market access. Former PM Boris Johnson had set Diwali as the timeline for accomplishing this. Badenoch is keen to shift the discussion beyond trade deals. She intends to discuss wider cooperation between the nations. Both India and UK aim to take their bilateral trade to $100 bn by the end of this decade.
