Ola has begun distributing pink slips to staff members working on various development teams. According to sources, ANI Technologies’ several software verticals would likely lay off at least 500 employees. Many of these workers are thought to have been engaged in various Ola app projects. The decision was made in light of the Ola Electric scooter’s falling sales.

Ola has been reorganizing for the past few months. Ola introduced its electric scooter in December of last year. Due to the shutdown of the rapid commerce company Ola Dash and the pre-owned automobile business Ola Cars, the company previously let go nearly 2,000 workers. In the past two years, more than 30 senior officials, including members of Bhavish Agarwal’s leadership team, have resigned.

An Ola S1 scooter caught fire in March. There have been numerous consumer complaints regarding the software, battery performance, and service concerns since the company entered the electric vehicle market nine months ago. Every month after the company’s sales of 12,691 scooters in April have decreased.

Ola sold a little over 3,351 vehicles in August, the fewest in the previous six months, according to data on vehicle registration.
