Larsen & Toubro Group’s Mindtree plans to set up a development center in Kolkata that could create 15,000 to 20,000 jobs over the next four to five years.
The IT services company has already added 1,700 employees to its existing facility in West Bengal’s capital. The development center can create employment opportunities for 15,000 to 20,000 people. The IT company announced the opening of its first development center in Kolkata in March.
Larsen and Toubro’s board of directors announced in May that the association plans to merge two publicly traded IT services companies to create a combined entity. During the event, Information Technology Minister Babul Supriyo called on industry leaders to brief his sector on “what needs to be done” to grow the information technology sector in West Bengal.
