India to Launch its first Vaccine against Cervical Cancer

India received the first vaccine against cervical cancer,Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (qHPV). The vaccine will be launched by Jitendra Singh, State Minister for Science and Technology (Independent Officer) at IIC Delhi. India’s Director General of Drug Enforcement (DCGI)  granted marketing authorization to the Serum Institute of India (SII) on July 12 to manufacture a domestically developed vaccine against cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women aged 15-44 in India. 

The Vaccine is developed by the Serum Institute of India (SII) and the Ministry of Biotechnology (DBT).
