If you are determined to win in life, nothing can stop you from achieving it. The tale of Bhavesh Bhatia, who hails from Gujarat, is a living example of this. Bhavesh was working as a telephone operator at a hotel until he started losing his eyesight at the age of 23 and eventually got fired from his job. His family was poor. His mother, a cancer patient, died due to a lack of treatment. He had no other choice but to find a way to survive.

He joined Mumbai’s National Association for the Blind where he learnt candle making. This was the turning point in his life. He decided to use this skill to good use and began selling candles first from a cart. Later, he took a loan of Rs 15,000 under the special scheme for people who are blind and started his business ‘Sunrise Candles.’

Over time, the small business grew into a multi-crore business. At Sunrise Candles, his employees are people with visual impairments.  It currently provides jobs to more than 9,500 visually-impaired people. It has 71 manufacturing units across 14 states. Sunrise Candles exports its candles to 67 countries.
