The drone that people can travel on becomes a reality. A Pune-based startup has developed the country’s first passenger drone. The Sagar Defense Engineering Company has manufactured the Varuna passenger drone for the Navy. The passenger drone can carry a payload of 130 kg including a passenger. A varuna can fly a distance of 25 km in 25-33 minutes with a weight of 130 kg. The drone is capable of landing safely even if there is a technical failure in the sky. In case of emergency, the parachute will automatically open and help the passenger to land safely. Babbar, the company’s co-founder, said the Varuna could be used as an air ambulance or for cargo transport in remote areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi watched Varuna’s performance. The video was shared by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Twitter.
