Story of Savitri Jindal, India’s Richest Woman

Savitri Jindal is an example of perseverance and confidence. India’s richest woman, she chairs the famous Jindal group. Her interests include steel, power, cement, and infrastructure. In the last two years, her net worth tripled from $ 4.8 billion to $17.7 billion.

Who is Savitri Jindal? Let us have a look at her life. 

Born on March 20, 1950, in Assam’s Tinsukia town, she married OP Jindal in 1970. Om Prakash Jindal, popularly known as OP Jindal, launched the successful business empire Jindal Steel and Power. Savitri Jindal took over the reins of the Jindal business at the age of 55 following the demise of her husband in a helicopter crash in 2005. At the same time, she also joined active politics. 

Savitri became a billionaire over time. What makes her different is her determination to stay active. She is active in entrepreneurship and politics at a time when most people make retirement plans. Savitri Jindal and OP Jindal have nine children. 

Former Haryana Cabinet Minister and Honorary Chairman of the OP Jindal Group, Savitri Jindal has surpassed China’s Yang Huiyan to become the wealthiest woman in Asia.  According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, she is 72 years old and has a net worth of $ 11.3 billion. She has nine children,  is the wealthiest woman in India, and manages the OP Jindal Group, which was founded by her deceased husband, Omprakarsh Jindal. Based in New Delhi, the company is not only into steelmaker JSW Steel, but also in  other companies in the mining, power generation, industrial gas and port facilities sectors. Savitri Jindal is ranked 10th on the list of the wealthiest people in India.
