The due date for IT Return filing is July 31, 2022. One can still file it till December 31, 2022. Interest and penalties will be applied for the belated return. If the total income exceeds Rs 5 lakh, the penalty will be Rs 5,000. For an income less than Rs 5 lakh, the penalty will be Rs 1,000. One will also lose interest on the refundable amount in a belated return.
