Kerala Innovation Week – A stage where innovation, technology and creativity converged

Innovation, technology, design, entrepreneurship, creativity, digital art, music…

The youngsters were thrilled to be in Kochi last week. The Kerala Innovation Week provided a new perspective to the Malayali youngsters. This has become the biggest design-maker-technology fest by the Kerala Startup Mission.

The Innovation week, held at Technology Innovation Zone, Kalamassery, began with a cycle rally on May 20. The fest had a ‘makathon’, ‘buildathon’, free robotics workshop, creators’ summit, design-3D maker products, art workshop and the facility to visit the fab lab.

The panel discussion ‘Why Hack’ organised in association with Ernst & Young to discuss the need to attract women to tech jobs was a significant one. The programme also had an ‘investor cafe’ to find investors for women entrepreneurs.

The stall by Rink for connecting products with commercial potential developed by research institutions with the market was another attraction. Also took place a meeting with investors to discuss the scope of expanding enterprises in Kerala to the UK and Canada.

The She Power 3.0, held by Channeliam to discuss the changes women had to face following the pandemic, was also held during the week. She Power 3.0 with the theme ‘She Speaks Power’ discussed women empowerment, cyber security and the need for female leadership.

The Founders Meet saw startup founders from various sectors sharing their experiences.

Another attraction was the Creators Summit which involved social media influencers.

The Innovation week also had a fashion show, music night, food fest and flea bazaar.

The seven-day Innovation Week had more than 10,000 participants from across the country. More than 40 speakers, 30 stakeholders, and 25 innovative idea communities also attended the event.

KSUM organised the Innovation Week with the aim to develop a startup ecosystem in the state for the development of entrepreneurship. The fest also received the support of the Global Shapers of the World Economic Forum in Kochi.

The Innovation Week was the state government’s attempt to lead the economy with the help of new technology.
