Pekka Lundmark, the president and CEO of Nokia, has predicted that 6G networks will reach the market around 2030. This will happen alongside the expansion of the “industrial metaverse.” He made the comments during a Davos panel discussion on “Strategic Outlook on the Digital Economy.”
Lundmark also said that by 2030, the smartphone we use now won’t be sufficient. It won’t be the most common interface. 6G would require more expansive computational resources, including networks that are faster than 5G. It will bring about technological advancement in quantum mechanics and artificial intelligence.
In his opinion, that time will see physical and digital worlds growing together. It will be so quick that one will be able to switch to a VR world simply by turning a dial. There will be a pretty much digital twin of everything, he commented.
