Now, users can request Google to remove personal contact info from search results
This includes phone number, email address or physical address
People can request the removal of information that may pose an identity theft risk
Users should submit a ‘removal request’ along with all the web and image URLs
Once the request is submitted, users will get an automated confirmation mail
Google, then, will review the content and take measures if the request meets Google’s requirements
Otherwise, Google will send a note explaining the details of denying the request
However, information that is broadly useful, like news articles, won’t be removed
The same applies to the public records on government websites or official sources
For eg, a politician’s phone number won’t be removed as it is available on govt websites
Even if removed, the information may still exist on the web
People may still find the information via social media and other pages
