According to Deloitte’s ‘Women@Work 2022: A Global Outlook’ report, a significant number of female employees will resign within the next two years due to burnout and lack of flexible working hours. The report states that “massive resignation” appears to be continuing, especially among female workers.
This report is based on the views of 5,000 women (including 500 in India) surveyed in 10 countries between November 2021 and February 2022. Burnout is a major factor in keeping women away from their employers, and about 40% cite burnout as the number one reason to actively seek new employers. More than half of the people surveyed want to leave their jobs in the next two years, and only 9% plan to stay for more than five years.
The report also revealed that the majority of respondents continue to experience non-inclusive behavior in the workplace, some of which have been reported to employers. The majority of respondents in all regions surveyed are affected by non-inclusive behavior, but these include women from ethnic minority groups in their own country, LGBT + women, and women in managerial or non-managerial positions.
The report added that many are less optimistic about their career prospects than they were 12 months ago.
According to the report, about 60% of women working in a hybrid work environment feel left out of important meetings. Only 24 percent of non-inclusive behavior was reported to employers, it said.
The report also found that women working for equality officers reported a much higher level of well-being and job satisfaction. Women working for gender equality leaders also reported much more positive experiences with hybrid work, with only 3 percent saying they were feeling burnout, the report said.
