Reliance Retail announced that it will showcase genuine handmade products and launch several new initiatives to promote Indian art forms around the world. At the forefront of the program is the Reliance Retail Swadesh brand. This is a purely craftsmanship store format for handmade products across the country.
The initiative mentioned by the company aims to revitalize a variety of traditional Indian arts and crafts. Swadesh will also build a global marketplace for Indian artisans and sellers of genuine handmade products.
RiSE-Reliance Foundation Initiative for Skills Improvement-Centers have been established in all states to promote the heritage of India. The company said these centers will leverage the existing network and programs of the handicraft sector to provide maximum benefit to craftsmen.
Reliance Retail is an ecosystem that uses Swadesh to revive dying crafts and improve the skills of creative communities by providing training and development workshops to improve skills / design.
The company has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Textiles, allowing 100% genuine handmade products to be procured directly from the community. A separate memorandum of understanding has been signed with the MSME & Textiles Department of the Government of West Bengal to realize the vision of sustainable employment.
