National Skill development programme to establish 5000 news skill centres

The ‘Skill India Programme’ endorses such talents. The priority of ‘Skill India’ is to converge sectors in terms of skill training activities. The National skill development corporation allows aspiring candidates to register under the scheme to learn new skills as part of the initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The aim is to make India “the skill capital” of the world.
The minister of skill development, Rajeev Chandrashekhar said that the whole objective of the skill hubs is to use the existing infrastructure of both the education system and the Skill India program and network to provide comprehensive skilling and vocational training to students and dropouts. It also aims at those who seek employment opportunities outside the education system in various skills.

Following the Covid, there was a concern regarding the overall disruption of the female workforce. But, this was dismissed as baseless since the entire job market got affected by the Covid. The IT sector, though, has seen a surge of 40- 45% of women recruitment.
The ministry has taken steps to encourage incentives for skill development programmes for women, especially in rural areas. The Jan Shikshan Sansthan network, primarily aimed at skilling women in rural areas, is doing a very good job. The Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan said that the ministry is delivering skill training through a comprehensive network of skill development centres under various schemes for the youth across the country.
The first phase has been completed and further skill development has been set in motion. These programmes aim to ensure livelihood opportunities in the rural areas through skilling of youth and imparting entrepreneurship. The National Policy on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015, prioritizes the requirements of the rural youth amongst special priority groups. The skill development project aims at an all-inclusive job portfolio for the youth of India.
