Gurugram-based Mom and Baby Care brand

What about starting a venture to find suitable products for your children? That is exactly the story of Malika Datt Sadani and Mohit Sadaani, the business couple behind “The Moms Co” brand. The MBA graduates zeroed in on the idea of “The Moms Co” after realizing that their child’s skin problems needed natural and chemical-free products. The Moms Co is a mom and baby care brand that was founded in 2016. It is based in Gurugram.

In 2010, Malika, who was three months pregnant, moved to London with her husband Mohit. After returning to India in 2012 with their one-year-old baby, she couldn’t find the baby care products which were available in London. She had to rely on her husband’s overseas trips and friends abroad to deliver the products. Everything, including moisturizing lotion, diapers and wipes were delivered this way.

As this was not a practical solution, they slowly shifted to Indian brands. When the couple realized that their baby got the skin condition ‘eczema dermatitis’ due to a particular brand of lotion, they started thinking of new ways. The idea of natural products for babies also led to their startup.

First product in seven months

Malika says that they aimed to make products that can be used by their children. The Moms Co took scientists from India, Australia and Switzerland on board to develop the best skincare products. After continuous research, the company introduced its first product in seven months. The Moms Co. offers a wide range of 31 products, including skincare products for newborns and mothers. The company also produces anti-stretch mark cream, breastfeeding products, morning sickness products and prenatal and postpartum care products.

Moms Co has a turnover of Rs 100 crore

Moms Co aims to market quality products in a country where maternal and child care products are heavily imported. The baby care products startup, which started with an investment of Rs 15 lakh, hit a turnover of Rs 100 crore in its fourth year. The company has warehouses in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Gurugram. Malika says that her greatest satisfaction is that their products are now rated on par with foreign brands. About 45% of sales come from Tier II or Tier III cities. According to the couple, the success of the product is that they are selling their products with international standards at reasonable prices.
