The Tata Group is looking to re-establish itself in the Indian beauty market. Tata exited the segment nearly 23 years ago.

Back to business

Tata will focus on footwear, underwear and beauty products, said a senior official. The cosmetics and beauty market in India stood at over $11 billion earlier this year. It is expected to be worth $20 billion in 2025.

Tata introduced Lakme in 1953 as India’s first cosmetics brand. The conglomerate sold the brand to Hindustan Unilever in 1998.
