25 airports have been earmarked for asset monetisation from 2022-25. They include Varanasi, Amritsar, Trichy, Indore, Chennai, Calicut, Coimbatore among others.
Airports for asset monetisation
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has identified 13 airports to be run under the Public-Private Partnership, Civil Aviation Ministry said.
“As per National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP), 25 AAI airports have been earmarked for asset monetisation over the years 2022 to 2025 namely Bhubaneshwar, Varanasi, Amritsar, Trichy, Indore, Raipur, Calicut, Coimbatore, Nagpur, Patna, Madurai, Surat, Ranchi, Jodhpur, Chennai, Vijayawada, Vadodara, Bhopal, Tirupati, Hubli, Imphal, Agartala, Udaipur, Dehradun and Rajahmundry,” stated Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation Gen VK Singh.
Public Private Partnership
AAI has identified Tiruchirappalli International Airport in Tamil Nadu to be run under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode among 13 airports. AAI will remain the owner of the airports even if they are run under the PPP mode.
“All these airports will revert to AAI once the concession period is over,” the ministry said. AAI owns 136 airports, out of which AAI has formed Joint Venture in seven.
