India is eyeing a comprehensive framework for work from home. This will define the liability of employers towards employees working from home.

Fixing work hours

It will also provide a legal framework for the new model of work which emerged during Covid-19. It includes fixing work hours for employees and paying additional expenses towards electricity and internet.

Comprehensive formal structure

The government had formalized work from home for the services sector through a standing order. This order allowed employers and employees to mutually decide on the work hours and other conditions. The government now wants to bring a comprehensive formal structure for all sectors.
