The successful second edition of SHE POWER held in Kozhikode allowed women entrepreneurs to understand digital skills.The programme was conducted in cooperation with the American State Department. Women entrepreneurs, MSME, Startup founders, and members of student startups participated in the event.
The new industry licensing method in the paperless era has made entrepreneurship simple, said Union Bank Chief Technical Manager V.K. Adarsh. The future is of collateral-free loans and hence entrepreneurship will be easier, V.K Adarsh added. He spoke about the Stand-Up India scheme and other entrepreneurship schemes. V.K Adarsh also spoke about loans given by various banks.
Kerala Startup Mission Project Director P.M Riyas was vocal about the various government initiatives supporting women entrepreneurship. “In Kerala, women entrepreneurs constitute below 14 per cent. Only six per cent of women are involved in small scale and medium scale industries. Even if it is said that women are empowered, it’s not visible in entrepreneurship. The Industries Department has many initiatives to support entrepreneurs and all should make use of it,” P.M. Riyas said.
Amina, Founder of women-only tours and travels ‘My Travel Mate’ shared her experience as a women entrepreneur. For Amina, entrepreneurship is a journey she chose bravely, resisting the criticisms and insults.
The last edition of SHE POWER 2.0, which comprises training and workshops for women entrepreneurs for understanding online sales and promotion and digital skilling, will be held on November 27 in Thiruvananthapuram.
