Greaves Electric Mobility’s largest EV production facility has been opened. The facility in Ranipet is part of the Rs 700 crore investment roadmap laid by the firm.

Electric mobility hub

The 35-acre plant would serve as an electric mobility hub for both domestic and overseas markets. The manufacturing unit will help the company expand its market share in the EV market.

The production facility is part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign. The facility would have a capacity to produce 1.20 lakh units by the end of this financial year. The firm has plans to gradually enhance the production to one million units.

The company says it has “a robust workforce that has been a hallmark of the brand since its earliest days. The facility will be operational with 70 percent women in the workforce.”

Future is EV

The company is  focused on building affordable, reliable and dependable electric two-wheelers for commuters across the country, which aligns with its purpose of decarbonising last-mile transportation for a better planet.

This EV megasite will help the company meet the rising needs of discerning customers and fleet purchasers in the last mile mobility market. The firm also wants to expand its capacities to produce a million EVs a year in future. The plant will also aim to nurture a highly skilled workforce and generate employment.
