SpaceX incorporates 100% India subsidiary – Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt Ltd.

This aims at providing satellite-based broadband services in 12 remote districts.

Starlink is aiming for 200,000 satellite broadband terminals in India by Dec 2022.

Of this, 80% would be in rural districts.

Starlink is working closely with Niti Aayog to bring broadband connectivity to 100 schools.

A media report said that the average cost of the service would be similar across the world.

In India, the cost of Starlink’s satellite broadband service will be around Rs 1 lakh annually.

The kit, which includes the dish, modem and cable, will cost about Rs 40,000.
